About BVCA

The Business Valuation Council of Australia is a new membership body for business valuation. It's early days, and this page says exactly what that means.

Why BVCA

A clearer benchmark for valuation work.

Business valuations decide real outcomes: what a buyer pays, how a family property settlement is split, what tax is owed when a business changes hands. People who rely on them often have no simple way to tell good valuation work from weak work.

BVCA aims to give them one: a published description of what good work looks like, published admission criteria, and a public register to check who has met them.

BVCA was established in 2026 and is administered by Valuation Group Pty Ltd. It is at the founding stage. See the progress tracker for what is in place and what isn't.

Straight answers

The questions people should ask.

Is BVCA independent?

Not yet. It is administered by Valuation Group Pty Ltd, which also provides business valuation services. It becomes independent once a council and admissions panel with no business ties to Valuation Group Pty Ltd are appointed. Their names will be published on the Governance page.

Has anyone been admitted?

Admissions have not opened, so no one has been admitted. The public register will open once they have.

Will the founders get designations automatically?

No. Anyone connected with Valuation Group Pty Ltd applies through the same process and is assessed by people with no ties to them.

Is BVCA a government or accounting body?

No. It is a private membership body. It is not connected to ASIC, the ATO, the courts, CA ANZ, CPA Australia or the IPA.

Is the practice framework a binding standard?

No. It is a draft, open for comment. Once adopted it will apply to admitted members. It does not replace the law, court rules or any other professional body's standards.

Can I join or pay today?

No. You can register interest for free, and we'll contact you when admissions open.
