The Council is designed around transparent admission requirements, continuing professional development, ethical conduct, peer accountability and practical valuation standards.

Read our professional framework

Evidence before assertion

Valuation work should be understandable, supportable and defensible.

The BVCA Professional Practice Framework is built around six core expectations that apply across private company and business-interest valuation work.

01

Define the purpose, subject interest and valuation date clearly.

02

Use evidence appropriate to the business, market and engagement.

03

Explain methodology, assumptions and judgement transparently.

04

Address independence, conflicts and material limitations.

05

Maintain sufficient working papers to support the conclusion.

06

Report in language an informed reader can understand and test.

Detailed standards, practice notes and CPD guidance will be published as the founding framework is adopted.

A credential with a standard behind it

Membership grades for every stage of professional practice.

Professional post-nominals are attached to published admission criteria, annual renewal and ongoing professional obligations.
